Steven Leitch of Leesburg, a native of Clifton Forge and a 1989 graduate of Dabney S. Lancaster Community College, was honored as the first recipient of the Distinguished Alumni Award during the 50th annual DSLCC commencement exercises held May 12 on the Clifton Forge campus. Leitch joined Berkeley Point Capital, one of the nation’s leading providers of multifamily capital solutions, in 1993. He was originally hired as an analyst in the underwriting department before joining the production staff in 1995, where he handled MBS trading activities, while assisting several senior producers. In 1998, Leitch moved into a business development role, focusing mainly on the Midwest and Southwest regions. Since 1998, he has sourced and closed over 450 commercial loans, totaling almost $5 billion in business and has closed deals in more than 30 states, including over 50 primary and secondary markets nationwide. Leitch received an Associate’s Degree from DSLCC, then graduated from the University of Virginia in 1992, earning a B.S. in Finance and Marketing. The DSLCC Distinguished Alumni award is given to honor an exceptional alumnus or alumna, who demonstrates community commitment, excellence, integrity, and honor. The recipients have realized exemplary distinction in their professions and honor all those at the College who have assisted them on the path to success, ultimately enabling them to enrich their community. Leitch is pictured with his wife, Gretchen; daughter Kendall; and mother, Sue Leitch of Clifton Forge.
