You can earn college credit while still in high school!
MGCC offers a variety of options for high school students: concurrent enrollment, dual enrollment and Jackson River Governor’s School. To be eligible, you must be a junior or senior and prepared for the demands of college-level work. Exceptional freshman and sophomores will be considered.
The Jackson River Governor’s School provides an option if you are interested in science, technology engineering and math (STEM) courses at an advanced level.
What is Concurrent Enrollment?
Concurrent enrollment allows you to take courses on campus at MGCC or online with MGCC faculty. You would be a part-time student at MGCC and remain a full-time student in your high school. Homeschooled students may pursue this option as well.
What is Dual Enrollment?
Dual enrollment classes are MGCC courses taught at your high school during the regular school day. Classes are taught by high school teachers who are also MGCC adjunct faculty. Textbooks, syllabi, and workload are comparable to college freshman-level courses.
Dual enrollment classes can save you a significant amount of money. In most cases, students do not pay out of pocket for dual enrollment classes. Dual enrollment courses vary by high school; check with your high school guidance department for specific options at your school.
Dual Enrollment Requirements
- Be high school junior or senior. (Sophomores and freshmen can apply for exception).
- Meet dual enrollment admissions criteria.

Educational Talent Search
Educational Talent Search serves individuals identified as potential first-generation college students (neither parent has a four-year college degree) who can succeed in higher education.
Educational Talent Search is designed to encourage students in grades seven through twelve, as well as high school dropouts or post-secondary stop-outs, to continue their education.
The goal of Educational Talent Search is to increase the number of individuals who complete high school and enroll in the post-secondary education institution of their choice.
