Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 (20 U.S.C. § 1681) is an all-encompassing federal law that prohibits discrimination based on the gender of students and employees of educational institutions which receive federal financial assistance.
The Clery Act, first enacted in 1990 and amended in 1998, requires higher education institutions to report crime statistics to current & prospective students & employees. Jeanne Clery was raped and murdered in her dorm room at Lehigh University in 1986. Her killer was another student. Her parents believe she would have been more cautious if she had known about other violent crimes at Lehigh.

MGCC has designated April Tolley, Director of Human Resources, as the Title IX Coordinator. She is charged with monitoring compliance with these regulations. Questions regarding Title IX, as well as concerns and complaints of non-compliance, may be directed to her.

She is responsible for receiving student complaints of sexual harassment, including sexual assault, sexual violence or other sexual misconduct.
