This course provides instruction on combining public speaking skills and technology to create a dynamic and exciting class environment. Participants learn by studying the speaking skills of the world's top public speakers and teachers and then practicing

Curriculum has recently become a heavily emphasized and important part of an Early Childhood classroom. We will be covering
the top curriculum in the field during our time together. There will be time to get hands on experience with each curriculum and
discover what they have to offer. The curriculums we will investigate with be, Creative Curriculum, STREAMin3, Learn every
day and Tools of the Mind. You will leave out time together with a further understanding of how each curriculum functions and

Trauma Informed Care of Students 7/10/23 - 7/11/23

This course will bring about awareness on how trauma impacts a students’ ability to focus, learn, or adapt in the classroom.
Students’ experiences have a direct correlation with their behavior as well as how they decipher information presented.

The Power of School Clubs: In this training, participants learn and discuss the latest research on the effectiveness of school extracurricular activities, why they work, and where the dangers lie. Participants will then design and build a virtual club and share the

A recent and growing concern in the field of Education, particularly in the aftermath of COVID, is an overdependence on and
overuse of technology, resulting in a loss of student engagement with the most widely effective learning style: kinesthetic. This
course will touch on the background research for this concern, but spend most of the time designing, creating, and adapting handson learning aides for your own classroom. Participants will leave this course with a wide variety of hands-on manipulatives and
interactive strategies that will help students explore, practice, and retain target concepts and information based on your own curriculum. Instructor: Carol Watson
Children's Literature to Support Content Areas 7/19/23 - 7/20/23

As math and literacy continue occupy larger portions of time in classrooms due to testing and other issues, social studies and science are pushed to the back burner in both instructional importance and time allotment. One of the best strategies teachers use to
address this disturbing trend is to integrate these very important content areas into our literacy instruction. This course will offer
ideas, activities, and resources to support teachers to make the best use of limited classroom time to value all content areas. As
always in our STI courses, an important piece will be teachers sharing their great ideas with each other. Instructor: Carol Watson

Decoding Dyslexia 7/26/23 - 7/27/23

Decoding Dyslexia provides an introduction to dyslexia with a special focus on teacher training. Completers will satisfy VDOE
Dyslexia training requirements. This is a hands-on, interactive session. Instructor: Ben Worth
Studies the interrelationships of organisms and the natural and cultural environment with emphasis on human influences, ecological structures, survey of forest and wildlife populations, communities and ecosystems. Provides an introduction to different fields
of forestry and wildlife management, along with an understanding of the goods and services, both direct and indirect, which are a
benefit of a healthy and thriving forest ecosystem. Four (4) credit hours. Instructor: Billy Newman
