Culinary Arts students from Bath County High School recently participated in “Culinary Boot Camp” sponsored by the Virginia Restaurant, Lodging and Travel Association at the Dabney S. Lancaster Community College Rockbridge Regional Center in Buena Vista. The event, which introduces high school students to a college environment, also reinforces culinary techniques, says Ed McArdle (pictured in white chef’s smock), head of the Culinary Arts program at DSLCC. “Each student processed a whole chicken into parts, made Tuille cookies and practiced knife skills. There are many scholarships available through the VRLTA.” Culinary students from Rockbridge County High School also participated. For more information about the DSLCC culinary arts program, contact McArdle at (540) 261-3514 or emcardle@dslcc.edu or visit www.dslcc.edu.
