Hayley Jennings of Fairfield participates in the Lighting of the Lamp ceremony during the combined Commencement Exercises and Pinning Ceremony for the two nursing programs at Dabney S. Lancaster Community College Thursday night. Hayley was one of 23 graduates who received a Certificate in Practical Nursing, while 39 students received the Associate of Applied Science Degree Nursing. All of the nursing graduates recited the Nightingale Pledge after lighting their lamps.
The Fitzgerald family from Raphine gathered Saturday to celebrate daughter Caroline’s graduation from Dabney S. Lancaster Community College. Caroline, who received an Associate in Applied Science Degree in Forest Management Technology as well as a Career Studies Certificate in Urban Forestry, is currently serving as an intern representing the state of Virginia with the Appalachian Society of American Foresters. The APSAF region includes Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina. Flanking the new graduate are her brother Cal ,and her parents, Crystal and C.S. Fitzgerald.
