DSLCC Educator of the Year Honored
Tina Hawley (left) of Covington, who serves as Head of the Nursing Program at Dabney S. Lancaster Community College, was honored as DSLCC’s Educator of the Year at the annual meeting of the Alleghany Highlands Chamber of Commerce and Tourism, held April 7 at the Omni Homestead Resort in Hot Springs. A native of West Virginia, Hawley earned an Associate Degree in Nursing from Parkersburg (WV) Community College and worked for several years as a Registered Nurse in a hospital setting. She later returned to college to earn a Bachelor’s in Nursing from West Virginia University and a Master’s Degree in Nursing, with a Nursing Education Specialty, from Marshall University. Hawley started teaching at DSLCC in 2013, and has been a nursing educator for 18 years, having taught in an LPN program as well as an RN program.
