Dabney S. Lancaster Community College’s Educational Foundation teamed up with the Red Hen Restaurant in Lexington for a “Virtual Wine Tasting”, raising over $3,500 in support of the College’s Student Emergency Fund. Participants who purchased tickets were asked to pick up two bottles of wine and food pairings at either the DSLCC main campus or the DSLCC Rockbridge Regional Center in Buena Vista. Then they were given instructions to log on to a Zoom meeting (top photo) on August 19 at 7 pm, to virtually tour the Italian Vineyard while enjoying the refreshments and food with the other participants. Live from the Washington Street Purveyors (bottom photo) virtual hosts (from left) Stephanie Wilkinson, Puppie McCloskey, and the Executive Director of the Educational Foundation, Dr. James Cook, were joined by the Talamonti Winery owner Rodrigo Redmont from Italy as they led the discussion about the selected wines. The Student Emergency Fund helps DSLCC students who are experiencing food or housing insecurities. For more information contact Dr. Cook at (540) 863-2837 or email jcook@dslcc.edu.
