Dabney S. Lancaster Community College has announced a partnership with Radford University to offer a pathway for students who earn a Science Associate of Arts and Science Degree from DSLCC to transfer directly into the Chemistry Program at Radford and complete a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry. Students may select concentrations in Advanced Professional Chemist, Professional Chemist, Advanced Biochemistry, Biochemistry: Life Sciences and Pre-Health, or Forensics. The Advanced Professional Chemist and the Advanced Biochemistry concentrations are American Chemical Society Certified degrees.
The pathway, which takes effect in the fall of 2021, is based on degree requirements for the 2021-22 academic year and all courses must be completed with a grade of “C” or higher. Students may earn both degrees within four years.

DSLCC is very proud of the science education we provide in support of our transfer mission as well as our Nursing and other career and technical education programs.”
“The Department of Chemistry at Radford University welcomes Dabney S. Lancaster Community College students into the Department family,” commented Dr. Christine Hermann, chair of the Radford Department of Chemistry. “These students are welcome to contact me anytime during their studies to talk about classes and career options. Once the students become Highlanders, they will be assigned a Radford University chemistry faculty member to guide them through their completion of their college degrees. Using these pathways, a student can successfully complete their Associate’s Degree from DSLCC and a Bachelor’s Degree from Radford University within four years.”
Completion of the Science Associate of Arts and Science Degree at DSLCC will satisfy the General Education requirements at Radford University. Students may complete the degree after admission to Radford by taking remaining courses at DSLCC, or as a result of credits earned at Radford University, up to a limit of 10 credit hours.
Students completing this degree at DSLCC with a cumulative grade point average of 2.800 and who have earned a grade of “C” or higher in each course applicable to this degree will be guaranteed admission to Radford under the terms of the Guaranteed Admission Agreement between the Virginia Community College System and Radford University. Students who do not meet the eligibility requirements for guaranteed admission may still apply through the regular admission procedures.

Our partnership provides students assurance that they will be fully supported at Dabney S. Lancaster Community College and immediately mentored when they join us at Radford University.”
