Several representatives from Dabney S. Lancaster Community College attended a gala at the Richmond Marriott in October to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Virginia Community College System. The event, attended by hundreds of VCCS supporters, raised $2.4 million for the Virginia Foundation for Community College Education (VFCCE). Speakers highlighted the tremendous growth of the VCCS since 1966, noting the many thousands of Virginia students earning academic awards and non-credit credentials leading to employment and career advancement.
