Mountain Gateway Community College’s division of Workforce Solutions is gearing up for
several short construction courses this spring and summer.
These courses span from one to three days, as noted below. Course topics include
construction, leadership skills, OSHA training, and more, held at the MGCC Clifton Forge
campus or at the Buena Vista Workforce Center.
Course details are as follows
EPA 608 Certification (Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Technicians)
- One-day, four-hour course: April 6th
- Held in McCarthy Hall at Mountain Gateway Community College (Clifton Forge)
- Participants will attend class and then take the EPA 608 certification exam
- Class size is limited to 12
- Tuition: $195
- Registration closes on Saturday, April 6 at midnight
NCCER Fundamentals of Crew Leadership
- Three sessions held on Saturdays, April 13 - April 27
- Held at the Buena Vista Workforce Center
- Learn more about the requirements and skills to succeed in your leadership position, including effective communication, crew direction, planning, scheduling, budget management, and safety monitoring.
- Tuition: $300
- Registration closes on Saturday, April 13 at 11:59 p.m.
OSHA 10 for Construction
- Two sessions: June 1 and June 8
- Held at the Buena Vista Workforce Center
- Upon successful completion of the training, you will be awarded an official OSHA 10 Card for construction.
- Tuition: $100
- Registration closes on Friday, May 31 at midnight
NCCER Fall Protection Orientation
- One day, six hour course on June 16
- Held at the Buena Vista Workforce Center
- Teaches workers how to safely perform elevated work and avoid falls from heights.
- Ideal for any worker who is exposed to fall hazards on the job, such as construction workers, roofers, maintenance workers, painters, electricians, plumbers, HVAC technicians, and supervisors and safety managers.
- Upon completion of this course, trainees will be able to identify and assess fall hazards in the workplace, select and use appropriate fall protection equipment, comply with OSHA regulations governing elevated work in construction, and develop and implement fall protection plans.
- Tuition: $100
- Registration closes on Friday, June 14 at midnight
OSHA 10 General Industry
- Two sessions: June 22 and June 29
- Held at the Buena Vista Workforce Center
- Upon successful completion of the training, you will awarded an official OSHA 10 Card for General Industry
- Tuition: $100
- Registration closes on Friday, June 21 at midnight
