Mountain Gateway Community College is proud to announce the newest generation of Phi
Theta Kappa Honor Society members. Ten of 26 members were inducted into the Alpha Eta
Omicron Chapter of PTK on Tuesday, March 19.
Phi Theta Kappa was established by Missouri two-year college presidents in 1918, Phi Theta
Kappa International Honor Society serves to recognize and encourage the academic
achievement of two-year college students and provide opportunities of individual growth and
development through honors, leadership and service programming. Today, PTK is the largest
honor society in American higher education with more than 1.3 million members and 1,100
chapters located in 50 United States, U.S. territories, Canada, Germany and Japan. In 1929, the
American Association of Community Colleges recognized PTK as the official honor society for
two-year colleges.
Inductees present at Tuesday’s ceremony included Annie Altizer, Maddi Brown, Abigail Bush,
John Cole, Kellen Lowman, Kyleigh Plott, Zachary Thorton, Kinley Willis, Debra Wooldridge,
and Catherine Young.
Other inductees, who were not present, include Sarah Allen, John Brewster, Sabrina Burks,
Claudia Coleman, Victoria Critzer, Arielle Dunaway, Kelsey Fitzgerald., Hayli Givens, Emily
Lanahan, Carson Letherland, Jacob Rak, Goldie Richardson, Riley Spangler, Haley Terry,
Zachary Veron and Macy Williams.
MGCC President Dr. Rainone, Vice President of Academic Affairs Dr. Worth, PTK Chapter
Advisors Lee Ann Bowling, Ashley Pratt, and Rachael Thompson, as well as PTK President
Kathryn Shofstahl, PTK Secretary Megan Rickett, and PTK Historian Maille Carrington all spoke
during the induction ceremony.
