Mountain Gateway Community College Extends Application Deadline for LPN to RN Transition Pathway Program
Clifton Forge, VA – Mountain Gateway Community College (MGCC) is excited to announce the extension of the application deadline for its LPN to RN Transition Pathway program. The new application deadline is December 1, 2024, for those interested in joining the spring cohort, with classes set to begin on January 13, 2025.
This unique program offers Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) the opportunity to advance their careers and earn an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree in Nursing. Designed for LPNs who hold a current, unrestricted license in the Commonwealth of Virginia or a multi-state license, the LPN to RN Transition Pathway provides a seamless transition to the Registered Nurse (RN) role. Graduates of the program will be eligible to sit for the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN).
The pathway is structured to acknowledge the experience and expertise that LPNs bring to the program. Eligible students are granted 12 credits for prior learning and LPN licensure, reducing the number of credits required for graduation to 67. The program consists of a series of pre-requisite courses followed by three semesters of nursing coursework.
MGCC's nursing program is fully approved by the Virginia Board of Nursing and accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing, Inc. (ACEN), ensuring that students receive the highest quality education to prepare them for success as Registered Nurses.
This is a fantastic opportunity for LPNs who are ready to take their careers to the next level. Whether you are looking to expand your clinical knowledge, enhance your nursing skills, or pursue leadership roles in healthcare, the LPN to RN Transition Pathway program offers the education and support you need to succeed.
The deadline for applications is December 1, 2024, and classes begin on January 13, 2025. To apply or to learn more about the program, please contact the MGCC Admissions Office at 540-863-2820 or reach out to Dr. Cathy Hiler, Nursing Program Head, at chiler@mgcc.edu.
