A new Diesel Mechanic program, which will prepare students to inspect, repair and overhaul buses and trucks, as well as to maintain and repair diesel engines, is being offered by the Dabney S. Lancaster Community College Division of Workforce Solutions and Community Education this fall.
Class will meet from 6 to 9:30 pm on Tuesday and Thursday, from September 14 to April 19, 2022, on the DSLCC Clifton Forge campus. Tuition is $3,750, and includes books and materials.
Students who complete the 200-hour course are not only prepared for entry-level positions as technicians in diesel engine repair shops and related facilities, they will be eligible to sit for the Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Automotive Maintenance and Light Repair (G1) certification exam. Certification will issue once candidates complete and submit the one-year work experience requirement.
