The winner of the 2019 Wilson Cup for Scholarship, Character and Community Service, a prestigious award presented annually to a fulltime Dabney S. Lancaster Community College student, is Megan Lewis of Covington. Megan (second from left), an outstanding DSLCC student, is a leader in Phi Theta Kappa, DSLCC’s honor society; volunteers for Special Olympics and Darby’s Dancers; and serves as a referee for the Alleghany Highlands Youth Soccer League. “Megan is known on campus for her smile and pleasant, can-do attitude,” says Rachael Thompson (far left), Executive Director of the DSLCC Educational Foundation. “She passionately dedicated to helping special needs children, particularly through a local dance group.” The Wilson Cup, created by Lang and Bill Wilson (right) in 2007, honors a DSLCC student who demonstrates outstanding character and scholarship, as well as a commitment to community service, maintains a 3.0 GPA, and lives within DSLCC’s service area. The award was officially announced at the DSLCC Educational Foundation’s Donor Scholar Reception earlier this fall.
