Megan Leigh Humphries of Covington was honored as the recipient of the coveted Gary Lee Miller Outstanding Graduate Award during the annual Commencement Exercises Friday night at Dabney S. Lancaster Community College in Clifton Forge.

Covington businessman John H. Stone was recognized as this year’s recipient of the Dabney S. Lancaster Community College Educational Foundation’s Distinguished Alumni Award during DSLCC’s Commencement Exercises Friday night. A 1975 DSLCC graduate and 1977 graduate of Virginia Tech, Stone is owner and operator of John H.

Richmond – Temple Baptist Church, of Covington, Virginia, through the Estate of Ovella Worsham, has received the 13th Annual Chancellor’s Award for Leadership in Philanthropy. The church was nominated for the award by Dabney S. Lancaster Community College.

Tina Hawley (left) of Covington, who serves as Head of the Nursing Program at Dabney S. Lancaster Community College, was honored as DSLCC’s Educator of the Year at the annual meeting of the Alleghany Highlands Chamber of Commerce and Tourism, held April 7 at the Omni Homestead Resort in Hot Springs.

Dabney S. Lancaster Community College is pleased to announce that Marie Shiraki of Buena Vista has been selected as part of the seventh class of the Valley Proteins Fellows Program, administered by the Virginia Foundation for Community College Education.

Seventy-one students were enrolled in the Workforce Credentials Grant (WCG) program at Dabney S. Lancaster Community College during the 2017 academic year that ended June 30, according to Gary Keener, DSLCC Vice President of Workforce Solutions and Community Education.

Ed McArdle of Bath County has been named the new head of the Culinary Arts and Management Program at Dabney S. Lancaster Community College,  it was announced by Dr. Benjamin Worth, Vice President of Academic Affairs. McArdle assumed his new position at the DSLCC Rockbridge Regional Center in Buena Vista, where the culinary program is mainly located.

Those seeking select industry credentials may apply for funding under a program that was established by the state in 2016 to help with the shortage of qualified workers who have select high-demand industry credentials.

Dabney S. Lancaster Community College had the highest fall enrollment increase in the Virginia Community College System, with numbers up 11% over fall 2015 figures.
